Rate Limits Explained
To ensure high availability for all developers, SdashAPI enforces strict rate limits. If your application sends too many requests too quickly, or if you consume all of your monthly allocation, the API will temporarily reject your requests.
The 429 Status Code
2.19.1If you exceed your allowed limits, SdashAPI will respond with an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests status code. Your application must detect this code and temporarily stop sending requests.
Monthly Quotas
2.19.2Every subscription plan (including the free tier) comes with a specific number of allowed API calls per month. Once you hit this ceiling, every subsequent request will return a 429 error until your billing cycle resets on the 1st of the next month. You can view your current usage percentage at any time on your Developer Dashboard.
Concurrency and Burst Limits
2.19.3In addition to monthly quotas, SdashAPI monitors your requests per second (RPS) to prevent DDoS attacks. If you attempt to send 500 simultaneous requests in a single second, the firewall will automatically block your IP address and return 429s, even if you have millions of monthly credits left. You should always spread your requests out evenly over time.
Unlimited Paid Plans
2.19.4As detailed on our Pricing page, all paid tiers offer unlimited API calls! Upgrading to a paid tier removes the monthly quota entirely, though reasonable burst limits still apply to protect server health.
